Hey, I'm John. I'm originally from California and I live in the Philippines. When I was planning my move, I found that most of the information out there was either outdated forum posts, vague travel blogs, or content from people who had never actually lived here.

I wanted something better — honest answers about what it actually costs, how the visa process works, where to live, and what daily life looks like. So I started documenting what I learned and sharing it.

That turned into California Expat. It's now a full platform — videos, courses, tools, and a community of people who are either already in the Philippines or actively planning their move. Everything here comes from real experience, mine and the community's.
